We are so proud of our distinguished and award winning faculty and the contributions they have been making to the dance community during their careers. Our faculty have been frequently recognized in the areas of teaching, choreography and performance. Our focus on quality dance education can only be taught by quality dance educators.



Jamie is an award winning teacher and has been described as a “Powerhouse” and continues to strive to inspire her students on a daily basis. She received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Dance and has been involved in the dance industry for 36 years. Jamie was the founder of the dance program at Tarrant County College- Southeast Campus, and served as the director of the program for eight years. During her time at TCC she was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award for her teaching abilities and was the Department Chair of Fine Arts, overseeing the Art, Dance and Music departments.

In 2018 Jamie was the director and choreographer for Six Flags Over Texas Fright Fest, for “Dead Man’s Party” and “Arania’s Nightmare.” She returned in 2019 as the director and choreographer for “Splash” the brand new water parade and the all new show ``Hell's Belles``. Ms. Jamie is also an adjunct professor at Colin County College where she teaches Dance Appreciation. Jamie has worked with Junior Players as the resident choreographer at Thomas Jefferson High School as well as setting work at Dallas and Collin County Colleges.

Recently she has joined The Dance Effect as a judge for the national competition. Her performance credits include 2 contracts with Celebrity Cruise Lines, Six Flags Over Texas, Superbowl XXXVIII, House of Blues, The Miss Texas Pageant and has tapped alongside Tony Award winner, Tommy Tune.

As much as she loves performing, teaching is her true passion. Jamie is grateful for her friends and family that have supported her throughout her entire career, especially her husband, Jason, and son, James. She is excited to work with everyone at The Movement Academy!



Jaiquan Laurencin is a Hartford, Connecticut native where he began dancing in breakdancing/hip hop, evolving into other styles. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education from Texas Woman's University, where he was awarded Undergrad Excellence in Performance. He has a great passion for sharing his knowledge in dance by educating younger generations. He has worked with nonprofit organizations, theaters, pre-professional and professional companies, and multiple dance studios teaching workshops and choreographing works.

Jai has danced with Dark Circles Contemporary Dance under Joshua Peugh, Pedestrian Dance Movement under Liz Terry and a guest performer with Noble Motion Dance under Andy and Dion Noble. Artists he has worked with include Sidra Bell, Gabrielle Lamb, Gregory Dolbashian, Justin Giles, and Meredith Rainey to name a few. Film credits include dancing in Bastille music video Glory and in a wedding scene for the indie movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaaa filmed in New York City.

He continues to teach and choreograph around Dallas/Fort Worth area. He hopes to inspire the next generation of young artists to success.



Angela began her dance training at the age of three under the late Jimmie Ruth White at Spotlight Dance Studio. She continued to train there throughout her high school years and beyond. She is comprehensively trained in tap, jazz, ballet, and clogging. Angela was the Captain of her high school dance team. She was honored to be part of a select group of dancers to perform at the Worlds Faire in Brisbane, Australia. Angela continues her training by attending numerous master classes at various conventions every year. Her true passion is tap and clogging.

Angela taught at A Step in Time from 2004 - 2019. Her choreography has received many overall awards at both the regional and national levels. Dancers under Angela’s direction have been awarded scholarships, and top honors at numerous dance conventions and competitions.

She is committed to sharing her passion for dance with her students! She is married to Mark Lederman and has two wonderful daughters, Hannah (19) who is entering her sophomore year at Stephen F. Austin State University and Julia (15) who is a lieutenant on the MHS Gold Dusters.

Cassie Harper


Cassie has been dancing for twenty years and teaching/choreographing for eight. She has been trained in classical ballet at the Dallas Ballet Canter and has performed in numerous productions including ``La Fille Mal Gardee'`` ``Le Corsaire`` ``Sleeping Beauty`` and ``The Nutcracker``. Cassie has also trained extensively in jazz, contemporary and musical theatre. She has a passion for choreography and story telling, with one of her pieces placing in the top 10 finalists at a national competition. Cassie has since focused her passion on the cultivation of her students and her hope is to foster confidence through dance education!

We are located at 115 N Main Street in Historic Downtown Mansfield, behind Troy Dorsey Karate. Our entrance is on Walnut Street. We have a special opportunity to work with TDK in a space that stands out from the rest!
